Sift - Privacy Policy
Last Updated: March 13, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how the mobile application Sift ("the App"), developed by Daniel Szlaski ("we", "us", or "our"), collects, uses, and shares information when you use the App. Sift is distributed exclusively through the Apple App Store for iOS and iPadOS devices.
1. Information We Collect
Sift does not directly collect personal data. We do not require you to create an account, and we do not ask for your name, email address, or any other personally identifiable information.
However, the App uses third-party advertising services that may collect certain data automatically, as described below.
2. Third-Party Advertising - Google AdMob
Sift displays advertisements provided by Google AdMob (part of Google LLC). To serve relevant ads and measure ad performance, Google AdMob may collect and process certain information from your device, including:
- Device identifiers - such as the Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA) on iOS, if you have granted permission via the App Tracking Transparency prompt.
- IP address - used for approximate location-based ad targeting and fraud prevention.
- Device and app information - device model, operating system version, app version, language settings, and mobile network information.
- Ad interaction data - information about ads displayed, viewed, or clicked within the App.
- Crash, diagnostics, and performance data - including app launch time, hang rate, and energy usage, used to improve ad delivery and overall performance.
Google may use this data in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy and How Google uses information from sites or apps that use their services.
3. In-App Purchases
Sift offers optional in-app purchases to unlock additional content or remove ads. All purchases are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not collect or store any payment information such as credit card numbers or billing addresses.
When you make a purchase, we receive a purchase receipt from Apple to verify your transaction and unlock the corresponding features. This receipt data contains transaction identifiers and entitlement information but does not include personal financial details. Apple's handling of payment data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
4. App Tracking Transparency (ATT)
On iOS 14.5 and later, Sift will request your permission through Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework before allowing Google AdMob to access your device's advertising identifier (IDFA) for cross-app tracking. You can change this permission at any time in your device's Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking.
If you decline tracking, Google AdMob will still display ads but they may be less relevant to your interests.
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. Data collected by Google AdMob is shared with Google as our advertising partner. We do not share data with any other third parties.
6. Data Retention
We do not store any user data on our servers. Any data collected by Google AdMob is retained according to Google's data retention policies. You can learn more at Google's Data Retention page.
7. Children's Privacy
Sift is rated 4+ on the App Store (with regional exceptions) and is suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. All advertisements served through Google AdMob are configured to comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and applicable age-related regulations, ensuring that only child-safe, non-personalised ads are displayed.
8. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of your personal data. Since we do not directly collect personal data, most data-related requests should be directed to Google. You can manage your Google ad preferences at Google Ad Settings.
You may also reset your Advertising Identifier or enable Limit Ad Tracking through your device's privacy settings.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
